The Project: A well-reported roundup of the must-read summer book releases of 2018. In order to execute this story, I established relationships with major book publishers in order to stay abreast of new book projects, vetted several dozens of books to curate a robust selection that appealed to the ESSENCE audience, ensured a balance of genres was featured all before reporting and writing the copy.
My Role: As the interim Books Editor of Essence and Essence.com between 2018 and 2019, it was my responsibility to review dozens of books for the brand's audience each month, as well as, cover authors, bookstore owners, book influencers, etc. This spread is an example of the work I completed during this time, in addition to performing my duties as the brand's Research Editor.
